TOP TEN FOR THE QJMOTOR GRESINI MOTO2 IN ARAGON QUALIFYING
The second day of action at the MotorLand Aragón did not start the best way: the mixed track conditions prevented the Gresini Moto2 riders from making the most of the Practice 2 session time attack wise and with regards to the fine-tuning of their bike set-ups. In Qualifying 2, Albert Arenas managed to finish sixth with a lap-time of 1’51.965secs. He will start tomorrow’s race from ninth on the grid, however, as on Friday he was given a three-position penalty. The race pace of the #75 is quick and consistent, so a good comeback is in the cards for tomorrow.
Manuel Gonzalez had a bit more of a difficult time compared to his standards: the Spanish rider is struggling to find his usual feeling aboard his Kalex machine #18. He still managed to put together a quite good lap-time in 1’52.141 which gave him the tenth place of the starting grid for tomorrow’s encounter, as he will also try to bounce back and aim at a good result.
6th – ALBERT ARENAS #75 (1’51.965)
“The day went by quite quickly: this morning, the track was half quick, half dry, so we only completed a handful of laps. Then we gave it all in qualifying but unfortunately, we couldn’t finish higher than sixth. The conditions were quite different compared to yesterday, we did ride well but we couldn’t put together the best performance. I wanted to battle for the front row but wasn’t unable to do so. We know we have a good pace for tomorrow: we’ll be ninth of the grid due to a penalty, but I will take it as a way to hone my overtaking skills further and have a good pace throughout the whole race.”
10th – MANUEL GONZALEZ #18 (1’52.141)
“It wasn’t a positive day for us. Unfortunately, the feeling in qualifying wasn’t good and I couldn’t push as hard as I wanted. We made a set-up change from yesterday but the track was completely different, and therefore we couldn’t improve. Now we need to reset and be laser focused on tomorrow’s comeback race.”
