TOP10 FOR GONZALEZ ON OPENING DAY OF ACTION AT MUGELLO

Today’s action at Mugello saw Manuel Gonzalez in tenth place at the end of practice 1 for the Moto2 World Championship. The Spanish rider #18 spent most of the opening day working on set-up modifications, which unfortunately did not work as expected. He still managed to log a solid lap-time in 1’51.375, which allowed him to round out the top ten and finish with a provisional direct seed to Q2.

Albert Arenas’s first day on track was a much more challenging one as he struggled to get up to speed on this track, which is as beautiful as it is complex. The rider #75 will need to work hard with his crew on the data gathered today in order to bounce back tomorrow and have a solid qualifying performance.

10th – MANUEL GONZALEZ #18 (1’51.375)

“It was a full and complete day as we were able to work on many aspects of the bike. We tried an adjustment that unfortunately did not provide us with the feeling we were looking for so we had to retrace our steps a little. I still think we’re not in a bad place, but surely we need another step forward in order to be even faster tomorrow and be able to set a good lap-time. I’m confident qualifying-wise and my goal is to earn a good spot on the grid.”

23rd – ALBERT ARENAS #75 (1’52.199)

“I struggled a bit today as I didn’t manage to get up to speed, so we have quite a lot of work to do. There’s a positive side to it, though: we managed to display a consistent pace, which will give us some important data to analyse in order to understand where we can improve ahead of tomorrow.”
