TWO RACES, ONE MISSION: ITALJET GRESINI MOTO2 TARGETS BRAZIL AND AMERICAS
The ITALJET GRESINI Moto2 team heads to Brazil, for the newest addition on the 2026 calendar. A 3.8 km track featuring fast straights with technical corners that promises a thrilling spectacle. All eyes on Alonso López, coming off an impressive comeback ride in Thailand, where he started from P19 on the grid to finish 7th. Mastering the Goiânia layout from the very first laps will be crucial, to allow him maximize qualifying, and then go all-in on race day.
On the other side of the pit-box, Sergio García returns after a left index finger injury sustained in a crash during the Buriram GP. No fractures for the Spaniard, who has used the two-week break to recover and arrive race-ready for this demanding double header. In fact, after Brazil, the team heads straight to Austin — a special circuit for Garcia, where he claimed his maiden Moto2 victory. Will he do it again?
ALONSO LOPEZ #21
“I’m really happy to be heading back out for the next two races. In Thailand we struggled a bit on Friday and Saturday, but on Sunday I had a lot of fun. We know where we need to improve and how to do it — that gives me a lot of confidence because I’m sure we can do a great job in both rounds. Brazil will be a new track for everyone: it’ll be exciting to work on the setup and find what I need to be competitive, especially with the heat likely to play a big role. It won’t be easy at the beginning — we’ll need to understand the layout, the surface, and the weather conditions, with rain also expected, which I actually enjoy! Then we head straight to Austin, one of my favourite tracks. I’m expecting to be competitive there and enjoy it like I always do.”
SERGIO GARCIA #3
“I’ve worked really hard over the past weeks to get back into shape, and I’m very happy to be ready for Brazil and the Americas after the crash in Thailand. I’ll give my 100% to be strong and fast right from the start — the goal is to fight at the front in both races. Brazil will be a fast and flowing layout: it’s always exciting to race at a new circuit. Then we go to Austin, the track where I took my first Moto2 win — it’s challenging, but also an amazing circuit!”
