FIRST LAPS OF 2018 FOR NAVARRO AT VALENCIA
The 2018 motorcycle racing journey started today for Jorge Navarro and Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 after rider and team reunited yesterday at Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo Circuit for a three-day test. After a first day that was ruined by adverse weather conditions, today the real fun started for the young Spanish rider.
Navarro, who did not enter the track the day before – just like all his Moto2 peers – managed to complete 26 laps with a personal best lap-time of 1’37.908, although his track-time was reduced by a crash in cold track conditions at turn 10.
Fortunately enough the rider was unharmed, meaning he will take to the track tomorrow for the final day of this first shakedown test at Valencia.
JORGE NAVARRO #9
“There’s not much to say about today: the track was wet this morning, so I got out just to complete a handful of laps. I was feeling comfortable on the bike this afternoon, but I rode over a damp patch at turn 10 and I crashed. The team worked hard to fix the bike and I was able to get back out in the final moments, although I chose not to take any risk as temperature were falling and many other riders fell down. Tomorrow will be a different day and I hope that the weather conditions will allow us to do a lot more.”
