VALENCIA TEST DRAWS TO A CLOSE WITH RODRIGO IN GREAT FORM

The atmosphere is far from pleasant in Valencia, and it could not have been otherwise. The Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 team took part in the maiden test of 2021 with their heads somewhere else, but with the awareness of having to give their maximum to honour Fausto.

Gabriel Rodrigo was among the absolute protagonists as he set excellent times and found a great feeling with the bike, with the set-up already prepared for the championship. The Argentine rider had a minor crash in final morning, but he was generally really quick and even broke the 1’39secs barrier.

Jeremy Alcoba had a more difficult shakedown also due to the absence of his crew chief Ivano Mancurti, who had to return to Faenza for obvious reasons. The #52 rider still kept his head down and found a decent feeling especially in the second day.

GABRIEL RODRIGO #2 (1’38.9)

“The test has been excellent. The feeling with the bike was incredible already yesterday, and today we were able to improve some more courtesy of a fantastic set-up, which allowed us to be quick also with used tyres. We’re already quicker than last year and things are as smooth as silk, except for a small crash. Maybe this has been the best test in years for me. To be getting on track after only a day from the sad news of Fausto’s passing away was very complicated: we decided to race anyway to honour him and if we want to win for him this year, then this test was crucial. It’s an honour to have his logo on the bike, and we’ll do our best to win for him.”

JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’40.9)

“We had a pretty bad start yesterday, as we surely felt the absence of my chrew chief Ivano. We still did our best, but it was a difficult day in which we tried to find some solution despite him not being here (Ivano). Today was a little bit better, even though today’s times should have arrived yesterday already. It is what it is, and I’m still happy to have started my work ahead of Portimao. I didn’t think we would have raced at all these days, so I think the work done during these days will help to give Fausto a season in which we’ll race only for him.”
