#VALENCIAGP: TEAM FEDERAL OIL TO CONTINUE Q2 CHARGE

Edgar Pons and Nicolò Bulega are getting ready for a full-throttle Saturday morning: the goal will be to find the direct seed to Q2 in what is the penultimate event of the season at Valencia. Today was an up-and-down day, with the Spaniard and the Italian finishing 17th and 24th, respectively.

Pons was 0.497s shy of the top, with the 14th (the last one allowing for direct admission to Q2) only 33 thousandths of a second away. Nicolò Bulega will need a bit more speed as his gap from day one leader Navarro is 0.930s – after a day that saw the Italian also on the ground at turn two.

17º – EDGAR PONS (1’35.352)

“The position is not the best, but we’re four tenths from the provisional pole so we can’t really complain. We need to improve our performance with new tyres, as our best lap today was set with a ‘28-lap old’ tyre. The race pace is also very good; we need to make it into Q2 and make another step forward.”

24º – NICOLÒ BULEGA (1’35.785)

“We struggled today. The feeling from last Sunday’s race has changed a bit and we need to put in some more work to address that. We had a crash this afternoon right after putting the new tyre on in order to make it into the Q2 group, but it didn’t go well. We will try to do better tomorrow.”
