ZACCONE KEEPS IMPROVING, SALAČ CRASHES OUT OF QATARI RACE

RACE – #QatarGP The team Gresini Racing Moto2 has completed the opening Grand Prix of the season in what was an emotion-filled weekend in the intermediate class of MotoGP for the Faenza-based squad, which started under high expectation following a great qualifying performance yesterday at the Losail International Circuit.

Alessandro Zaccone lined up on the 25th place of the grid for his maiden encounter in the series, and for the Italian rider it was all about gathering as much experience as possible about the bike, a key aspect for his learning curve in the Moto2 World Championship.

After well impressing in qualifying by the best-ever QP result for a Czech rider in Moto2, Filip Salač tried his best in the opening stages of the race to stay in touch with the leading group, but unfortunately ended up crashing out of the encounter at turn five during the lap three.

P22 – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61

“I’m happy with the race and my improvements, not so much with the result. These 20 laps have allowed me to gather plenty of information and understand a lot of things about the bike. The race pace improved a lot in the second half of the encounter, as I was riding a lot better as the tires began to wear out. It was my first race, a truly fantastic experience. I would like to thank the whole team for the work done and for this opportunity. Now we need to keep growing and improving, but I’m sure we’ll get there soon!”

DNF – FILIP SALAČ #12

“It wasn’t exactly the type of opening race we wanted. We got a good start, I was feeling good on the bike while following the leading group, but then I had a highside which I still can’t make sense of. I feel bad, because we were having a really great weekend and this race could have been the icing on the cake – but unfortunately things went differently. The team did an amazing job during these days, so I want to apologize to all of them.”
