ZACCONE IS BACK AS FERRARI AIMS HIGH

Team Trentino Gresini MotoE is back in action at Jerez de la Frontera for the second round of the season, albeit this time with the full line-up courtesy of the returning Alessandro Zaccone, who makes his World Cup debut after the unfortunate crash in testing two Wednesdays ago.

The series rookie took his first free practice day steadily, although he was still one of the most active riders on the track (11 laps). His lap-times, which were always close to the 1’49secs but already quicker than during testing, allowed him to finish with the 16th quickest time. There is still some pain in his knee and some chattering issues to be solved on his bike.

Matteo Ferrari had an easier time as he tried to fine-tune the settings of his Energica Ego Corsa while still being among the quickest of the category. He eventually ended up fifth quickest with almost identical times between FP1 and FP2 despite very different track conditions.

5th – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1’48.308)

“We’ve already lapped quicker than in the race and with higher temperatures compared to last Sunday, so we did a good step with the set-up. I’m also happy with what we did in the afternoon because I was able to match the morning times despite the condition being even worse. Granado is still the man to beat but we’re improving and I believe this weekend we will perform better. Last week we didn’t want to overdo, but now we are OK in many areas and tomorrow we’ll aim at a good qualifying considering that in the early laps I always manage to be quick.”

16th – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (1’49.637)

“Unfortunately the knee hurts still. During FP2 things went better with some painkillers but unfortunately the problem is with the bike as there is a significant chattering issue that the Energica engineers are evaluating. I hope I’ll feel better and that my bike will be ready for tomorrow morning’s free practice.”
