MISSION ACCOMPLISHED: SALAČ SCORES HIS FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS

RACE – #AmericasGP Team Gresini Racing Moto2 has taken to the track again today at the Circuit of The Americas (CoTA), where last year was able to step atop the podium with Fabio Di Giannantonio. For this year’s edition of the American event, the expectations were not as high for the two series rookies: Salač was looking for his first championship points, while Zaccone was focusing on gathering more experience to improve his feeling with the bike and be more competitive in the next rounds.

After starting the race from row seven, Filip Salač endured a difficult start but was able to recover up to the fourteenth place as he secured his first points in the season. This is a reason of great satisfaction for the rider #12, who hit the target he had set before the encounter.

Alessandro Zaccone, on the other hand, finished his race in the gravel after making some further modifications to the set-up during warmup: the feeling with the bike was positive ahead of what could have been a comeback in the race, but the dream faded away pretty soon. The Italian rider will be back in action at Portimao to continue with the good done feeling-wise in the morning session.

 14th – FILIP SALAČ #12

“This was one of the most difficult races of my life. Due to the antibiotics, I was exhausted. I’m happy that I managed to finish the race, though. The bike was fantastic and the feeling incredible; I’m only sorry that I wasn’t able to exploit its full potential: I was really struggling under braking because I had no strength. I’m happy for the whole team as we finally secured our first points. Let’s think about Portimao now!”

 DNF – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61

“I’m really sorry because we could have had a good race but I lost the front and crashed after only a few laps. We’ll try again the next round.”
