MOTOE SEASON RESUMES WITH SECOND ROUND AT SPIELBERG

A low-noise and low-emission series that has made a lot of buzz in Germany: the MotoE has surprised for speed and appeal at the Sachsenring in Germany last month, and it is now time for round two at Spielberg in Austria.

Among the big protagonists of the new category there is surely Team Trentino Gresini MotoE: not only in a negative way due to Lorenzo Savadori’s unfortunate crash – which was triggered by Granado – but also with Matteo Ferrari’s speed and consistency as the young Italian was fifth at the finish line in the first-ever encounter for the series.

Next on the agenda is a completely-new track for both riders (neither of them have raced before at the venue near Spielberg) as Ferrari and Savadori will be able to use the extra free practice session – scheduled for Saturday at 8:30. The goal will be to keep growing and improving while covering as many kms as possible and understanding a demanding bike – especially under braking and mid-turn.

MotoE proceedings will begin on Friday at 11:50 with FP1, while the race will be again underway at 10am local time (GMT+2) on Sunday.

MATTEO FERRARI #11

“I’m really charged up, because at Sachsenring we were competitive, so we want to aim higher. This is a new tack for the bike, we have no data, so the methodical work we’ll put in place will be even more crucial than before. I never race at the Red Bull Ring with other categories, so it will be important to understand the key parts of the track. There are some very important braking zones at this track and with MotoE the braking part is crucial. Despite the unusual time, the 8:30am FP3 session on Saturday is surely a positive factor.”

LORENZO SAVADORI #32

“It’s a track I’m yet to know, so we’ll have to learn quick. We come from a debut that could have been a lot better, but because of what happened it wasn’t. We’ll need to move on and fortunately there’ll be one more session on Saturday morning, which will surely help. I really look forward to getting back with the team and trying to understand better this new category and the bike. I fortunately come from a positive weekend in the Italian Championship, so we want to keep this mood.”
