A WEEKEND TO FORGET FOR FELO GRESINI RACING

After a difficult Friday, with Matteo Ferrari’s crash leaving him in eighth place on the starting grid and a long-lap penalty to observe in race one, a comeback race was expected in wet conditions – in which the Rimini-born rider is normally very competitive. The long-lap penalty, however, really affected the Italian rider as it cost him a few positions. He still made up some places up until the final lap, as he crosses the line eighth. Race two – still held in wet conditions – went better, as the #11 crossed the line fifth: he received another penalty, however, of three seconds, which ruined the result. Ferrari is relegated to seventh place, which leaves a bitter taste in his mouth and only 17 points to collect.

It was a challenging day also for Alessio Finello, who after the good feeling found on day one on the dry, he was aiming at two good results. The weather complicated things for the Turin-born rider, who struggled to find the right confidence in the wet and finished the two races in 14th and 12th place, respectively.

Team MotoE FELO Gresini Racing returns home eager to bounce back in the next round, taking place in Austria in a fortnight’s time.

MATTEO FERRARI #11 (RACE1: 8th; RACE2: 7th)

“It wasn’t a good weekend for us: we were really quick on the dry but it’s a shame for what happened in qualifying. There are always slower riders on the track, so I had to slow down myself meaning the tyres got cold and that caused the crash. Clearly it was my mistake but it should also be considered the reason behind it. The feeling in race one was not 100%, we worked better for race two and I must say I felt more comfortable, also with my speed and riding style. At the first corner I hit the brakes, I was on the inside and basically on the kerb, while another rider came from the outside and we had a coming together. Despite all, we didn’t lose too many points from Torres in the championship; the conditions were very difficult and it was very easy to crash or make a mistake so we can be happy. There are still three rounds left and anything can happen!”

ALESSIO FINELLO #72 (RACE1: 14th; RACE2: 12th)

“A challenging Saturday: I wasn’t expecting to struggle this much in the wet. It’s a shame because we were quick and competitive on the dry and I was hoping the same with the rain, but I couldn’t find the feeling. We still managed to score a few points for the championship and bring home the good feeling in free practice and qualifying. Now we need to focus on Austria, I want to be ready and start back from the good feeling we had in the dry.”
