ALCOBA FIFTEENTH IN HOME GP
It was a hard fought race by Jeremy Alcoba, who started his home race from sixteenth place on the grid. The rider #52 immediately found the right feeling with his bike, so much that at some point he thought about being able to bridge the gap with the frontrunners. He tried his best but struggled in the fourth sector, especially in the second half of the race. He battled for finishing in the points and managed to do so as he crossed the line in fifteenth place.
It was a race to forget on the other hand for Filip Salač, who could not get up to speed and lost several positions, up to the point he chose to retire five laps from the end.
Next weekend it will be time for Misano, the home race for Team Moto2 QJMOTOR GRESINI RACING which represents a chance to make amends and wrap up the last event before the long flyaway leg of the season.
15th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52
“I’m a but disappointed, I knew we could have achieved more in this race: I felt really good with the bike in the first three sectors, so much that I thought I could catch the leading group, but then I was losing everything in the last split and that prevented me to getting any slipstream on the straight. I gave it all and I’m happy we finished the race closer to the front group, but I’m disappointed with this fifteenth place. Next race will be the team’s home event and we’ll give it another try.”
DNF – FILIP SALAČ #12
“Definitely not the Sunday we were expecting: I couldn’t put the neutral in on the grid, had a bad start and went wide at turn one. When I rejoined I struggled a lot. We’ll look at the data to see what happened and I’m sorry for the team because we could have scored a good result this weekend but it went a different way. We’ll make amends at Misano.”
