ALCOBA SHINES AT BRNO

Jeremy Alcoba put together a very mature performance for Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 at Brno today as he crossed the line in seventh place after another great performance in what was the fourth Grand Prix of the season. For the Velencia-born rider this is the third seventh-place finish of this 2020, although it was a much more difficult one this time compared to the we’ll-know Jerez and Qatar (where he tested before the GP).

Nine important points for the general standings that now see him tenth (he is now above Masia) and only two points away from his teammate Gabriel Rodrigo, who surely did not meet expectations today for Gresini’s Moto3 effort.

The argentine rider, who was quickest on Friday and then second in qualifying yesterday, enjoyed a good start to the race but after a few turns has a big moment on his Honda that made him lose touch with the leading group. A second mistake, five laps later, put him out of the top-15 with Rodrigo able to climb back to a final 19th place.

7th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (10th in the championship standings witj 28 points)

“It’s been a complicated grand prix, but in very happy. I had no references in the race but I always had a good slipstream to exploit. Eight laps from the end I lost some rear grip but I was able to recover and felt really strong in the last four. I think I might have missed something in terms of acceleration to aim at the top five, but it’s good as it is today. I would like to thank the team from the bottom of my heart because they did an incredible job.”

19th – GABRI RODRIGO #2 (9th in the championship standings with 30 points)

“I don’t really know what happened. With the new tyre in the race I almost crashed several times. I lost a lot positions and at some point I was almost unable to even follow the second group as I was lapping really slow. We will have to analyse the data with my crew to understand what didn’t work because up to this morning the bike was fine. We lost a great opportunity but we’ll try to make up for it as soon as possible.”
