ALCOBA ON FIRE, FRONT ROW AT PORTIMAO
He sort of booked it yesterday after a first day spent at the front, and he confirmed himself very close to the top in what he himself admitted to be the so-far most challenging day in all the race weekends this year… Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3’s Jeremy Alcoba, for the first time in his world championship career, secures a front row start and tomorrow he will have a good chance to be among the protagonists in the final race of the season.
It is hard to find a better way to end a 2020 which was complicated and very important at the same time for the Spaniard who, after winning the ‘Rooie of the Year’ title, he will try to steal the show from noon local time (GMT +0) on a track he seems to like from the first to the final corner.
Another difficult day for Gabriel Rodrigo. The Argentine, after shining this morning with a fourth place in FP3, he crashed again in Q2 (turn 12) after only one flying lap completed. He will start from tenth place, but we are confident he will play a big role in the game.

“I’m very happy, especially because Saturday has been – and still is – a challenging day. First or second row makes little difference, but it was important to actually make it to the top three and at the same time not starting from so far back like in the last few races. We have been working very hard and we were fast already yesterday, but I managed to put together a good lap and finish second. I thought others could have been quicker than me, but it wasn’t the case and we’re really happy with this result.”
10th – GABRI RODRIGO #2 (1’48.920)
“We’ve made a big step forward compared to other races, as shown this morning. Unfortunately the crash caught us by surprise, so we’ll have to analyse the data carefully to understand what happened. Maybe it was the wind. In any case we’re not too far back on the grid and we want to have a great race in order to finish the year with good feelings.”
