ALCALCOBA BOOKS Q2 IN HIS AMERICAN DEBUT AT COTA

With Gabriel Rodrigo out of action, Jeremy Alcoba is the only standard bearer of Team Indonesian Racing Gresini Moto3 at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) for today and the rest of the weekend in the USA.

It was not an easy day at all for the Spanish rider, who made his debut at the track today by trying his skills both in the wet (FP1) and on the dry (FP2). Surely these were not the ideal conditions to put in as many laps as possible while discovering the secrets of the American circuit, but Alcoba managed nevertheless to be quick during his learning day as he finished 12th – 1.2secs away from today’s leader Salac.

This is an important result that could very well give the certainty of a direct seed to Q2 for Alcoba (scheduled for tomorrow at 13:00 local time GMT -5) as rain is expected for FP3 (getting underway at 9:00).

12th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (2’18.535)

“This morning we struggled at the beginning due to the rain, but we improved lap by lap without thinking about the result. I must say that in the end I found a good feeling both in the dry and in the wet, even though I must admit that I still have to find the perfect lines around the circuit. I like the track though and depending on the weather I think we can have a good weekend.”
