ALCOBA SURPRISES WITH PROVISIONAL Q2 TIME AT #BRITISHGP

He had never been in England prior to this trip, but today Jeremy Alcoba looked like a Moto3 veteran. In the first free practice sessions of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone the young Spaniard – who was called up to replace the injured Gabriel Rodrigo – has surely turned some heads by putting together a couple of quick lap-times and claiming position number ten in the morning timesheets. In the afternoon, Alcoba did even better by logging a 2’12.703secs which gave him the eighth place in the combined times and a provisional direct access to tomorrow’s #BritishGP Q2.

Riccardo Rossi did not enjoy the same type of success in his Silverstone debut, even though the Italian managed to improve his best lap-time between sessions (he went from 31stto 29th). Rossi, however, is still way behind the front group, meaning he will try to make the most of the FP3 session as he needs a whole second to get to more interesting positions.

8th– JEREMY ALCOBA #52
“I must say the track is really, really nice and I immediately found myself at ease with the bike around these corners. I got here with a lot more confidence on my abilities and with better knowledge of how my Honda works. I knew I had to find some good slipstreams as after all I’m here to learn and grow, and this is how it went. Tomorrow we’ll try to pick from where we left off and I think with the medium tyre we can even improve our lap-times a bit more.”

29º – RICCARDO ROSSI #54

“I like the track and the injured finger is not bothering me too much. The asphalt is also excellent, but somehow I cannot put together a decent lap: I need to be able to be quick in all sectors at once and find a lap-time that could make us a lot more competitive. We will work tomorrow to find what’s missing, I need more laps and surely need to wake up a little.”
