#ANDALUCIAGP: TEAM KÖMMERLING GRESINI KEEP THEIR HEAD DOWN
Things change, on paper: Spain gone, here comes Andalucía. In any case, the racing weekend that has just started for Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 is all in all in line with what happened a week ago: both riders have in fact found a good feeling and recorded some interesting lap-times.
Gabriel Rodrigo was the quickest of the two, despite still being far from his record lap-time (1’45.633secs) set seven days ago. The 1’46.237secs logged this morning (FP1) allowed him to be the fourth-quickest rider on the track and bodes well for a possible direct seed to Q2 – which giving him the opportunity to improve considerably ahead of qualifying.
A good Friday also for Jeremy Alcoba, who was only less than a tenth of a second slower than his teammate (7th time today). The Spaniard worked more on his race pace than on the time attack, but session after session he confirms himself in the higher part of the Moto3 classification. If FP3 will allow, Alcoba will enter qualifying directly from the second session.
4th – GABRIEL RODRIGO #2 (1’46.237)
“These two back-to-back rounds are allowing us to work on some fine details we normally don’t have time to look at in a single weekend. It is mainly fine tuning, but since I already like the bike a lot I’m sure they will help. We also improved in fast corners, which is something I had struggled with especially at the end of the race. Now we have more grip and I feel more comfortable on the bike, with any tyre combination. The goal will be to qualify better in order to be towards the front already from the start of the race.”
7th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’46.333)
“The setting is almost perfect, even though the bike behaves better with slightly lower temperatures. This morning we were very quick, but I made some small mistakes and that cost me the top three. In the afternoon we only worked with used tyres and we only used part of the session so we didn’t have to waste another set. I believe we are ready to try and stay at the front tomorrow, starting from tomorrow’s FP3 with the goal of earning our spot in Q2.”
