#ANDALUCIAGP: THIRD ROW FOR BULEGA, PONS 13TH

Team Federal Oil Gresini’s qualifying session was all in all very similar lap-time wise to the one performed last week though, if for Edgar Pons there is a confirmation of a 13th place, for Nicolò Bulega the jump is very significant: despite being only one tenth of a second quicker compared to the #SpanishGP QP, the Italian – who was seeded directly to Q2 – he claimed the eighth place on the grid of the #AndaluciaGP which makes him forget the previous 20th position in qualifying.

It has been so far a much more positive weekend for the standard bearer of Gresini Racing in the category, with both riders who made significant steps forward race-pace wise after working in all sessions with used tyres and putting the data gathered to good use.

Tomorrow, Bulega will try to get in the mix at the sharp end of the field from the middle of row three, while Pons will aim at scoring his first points of the season. The race will get underway at 12:20 local time (GMT +2).

8th –  NICOLÒ BULEGA #11 (1’42.087)

“We went from P20 to eight place so the step forward is clear. I must say we found a good direction with the bike and I’m liking it, and it obviously translating on the track. Tomorrow we can do well and to start from row three is of great motivation after last week’s disappointment.”

13th – EDGAR PONS #57 (1’42.224)

“Obviously, being less than half a second away from pole and being 13th surely leaves a bit of bitter taste in the mouth. I know I did a small mistake on my quick lap and surely this could have cost us a lot of positions since the classification is so tight. We continue to improve: FP3 showed us we are competitive and our pace has surely improved compared to last week.”
