NAVARRO HALF HAPPY WITH ARAGON RACE RESULT
The smile in back on Jorge Navarro’s face, although still not fully. The 21-year-old Spanish rider is back to the type of results expected out of what is still his rookie season in the middleweight class of MotoGP. Jorge put together a great race at the MotorLand Aragón – despite not having the pace to race with the leaders – to claim a very important sixth place finish at the line.
The rider of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 got a great start from the second row and got in the battle at the front with six other rivals. The battle with Binder and Corsi, however, did not allow him to stay with the front-runners. Navarro was nevertheless able to edge the Italian opponent by 0.2secs to equal his best result of the season.
With the ten points collected today, Navarro overtakes Marini and Vierge in the standings and keeps himself in contention for a top-10 overall finish – he is only 7 points away from 10th place.
6th – JORGE NAVARRO #9
“It’s been a good race, although it left a bittersweet taste in my mouth. Yesterday I had the pace to stay with the leaders, but today with different conditions my feeling changed. It has been a positive weekend nevertheless, maybe the best of the season and surely the best race start of the year. I enjoyed the battle with Corsi – one of the most expert riders in the class – and I’m sure it’ll help my learning curve.”
