ARENAS SIXTH IN SILVERSTONE QUALIFYING FOLLOWED BY TEAMMATE GONZALEZ, THE TWO SEPARATED BY ONLY ONE MILLISECOND

Albert Arenas managed to turn his Saturday around after having to go through Q1 – which he finished in second place. In qualifying two, the Spanish rider logged a 2’03.205secs lap-time which grants him a second row start, sixth place.

Manuel Gonzalez, on the other hand, was seeded directly to Q2 after finishing tenth in the combined classification of the two Practice sessions. In qualifying, he did not manage to put together the perfect lap and finished only 0.001secs away from his teammate, resulting in a seventh position on the grid for tomorrow’s race. The tenth encounter of the season will get underway at 14:30 local time (GMT +1).

6th – ALBERT ARENAS #75 (2’03.205)

“We started the day a little bit on the back foot after yesterday, but we didn’t give up. We did a good Q1 and I was able to find the right pace – we were quick. Then Q2 was quite difficult as we had only one tyre and therefore only one opportunity to do well. I gave it all and the second row is a good place to start tomorrow’s race. Now we need to understand what made our morning difficult in order to continue to improve. It’ll be key tomorrow to have a good rhythm and to find the right feeling straight away, so that we can be competitive in the race and start this second half of the season in the best possible way.”

7th – MANUEL GONZALEZ #18 (2’03.206)

“Today was a much more complex day than yesterday; we made some adjustments to the set-up in Practice2 and felt good, the pace was not bad and I felt comfortable enough to push hard. In qualifying we went back to yesterday’s set-up with some slight tweaks, which allowed us to be fast. We still need to make a little extra step forward for tomorrow’s race, but I feel strong. I’m not fully happy with my qualifying result, but I got slowed down by another rider on my last attempt. It’ll be key to make a good start tomorrow: the race will be a long one and we’re aiming at a good result.”
