AUSTRALIA AND THEN MALAYSIA TO CLOSE THE OVERSEAS CHAPTER
The Italjet Gresini Moto2 team is getting ready to tackle the final two rounds of the long overseas tour, with two of the most fascinating and demanding circuits on the calendar: Phillip Island and Sepang.
After the Indonesian round, the team heads to Australia with renewed motivation and the desire to build on the progress made in the last few races. The Phillip Island circuit, surrounded by nature and overlooking the ocean, is a true temple of speed, with fast corners and changes of direction — a strong point for Albert Arenas, who is ready to aim high. On the other side of the garage, Darryn Binder is thrilled to return to his favourite track. His goal will be to build a solid weekend starting from Friday, with a stronger qualifying performance to be in the mix on race day.
From Phillip Island to Sepang, the change will be significant: from the cold winds of southern Australia to the intense humidity of Malaysia, where heat and the long, demanding layout will test both riders and machines. Both Italjet Gresini Moto2 riders are ready to give their all to end the overseas races in the best possible way before heading back to Europe for the final two rounds of the season.
ALBERT ARENAS #75
“The race in Australia will definitely be very different from the last two, especially from a weather point of view, and that will have a big influence on our work. The corners here are quite special, so it will be crucial to be smart and focus on what we really need. It’s a bit like Mugello — lots of fast corners and direction changes — so let’s see if we can fight for the podium here as well! Then Malaysia will be more similar to Indonesia, especially in terms of temperature and humidity. It’s a unique and very long track that I really enjoy, and I hope we can fight at the front and bring home a good result in the last overseas race before returning to Europe for the final two rounds.”
DARRYN BINDER #15
“I can’t wait to ride at Phillip Island — it’s been my absolute favourite track since 2015. The goal will be to carry the momentum from Indonesia, but hopefully with a better starting point up the grid. We need to put together a solid weekend right from Friday, have a good qualifying session and then fight for stronger positions in the race. Then we head to Malaysia for the last overseas round before we head back to Europe: it’ll be a special one, another very hot race on a great circuit. The goal is to finish these overseas rounds in the best possible way and redeem ourselves in this final part of the championship.”
