#AUSTRIANGP E-POLE: FERRARI SEVENTH, SAVADORI ON FOURTH ROW

An extremely hot day at the Red Bull Ring saw Team Trentino Gresini MotoE battling out on track in the second E-Pole of the season. After this morning’s FP3 session – which was introduced here in Austria – both Matteo Ferrari and Lorenzo Savadori showed significant improvements aboard the Energica motorcycles #11 and #32.

In the afternoon – with radically different track conditions – Ferrari was able to repeat the low-1’35secs lap-time set this morning, which was enough to clinch the seventh place on the grid of the #AustrianGP. Savadori, meanwhile, is still working on a riding style that would work better in this category and was 13that the end of the single-lap qualifying session.

The second race of the first-ever edition of MotoE will see the standard bearers of Team Trentino Gresini MotoE try to be among the protagonists courtesy of a great race pace, with the encounter set to get underway at 10:00 local time (GMT+2)

MATTEO FERRARI #11

“I’m happy, because we improved a lot this morning and we’re really close to the front. My performance in the E-Pole was an 8 out of 10, because I basically matched my best time of the weekend but I made a mistake during the T3 entering turn seven, which cost me all the margin I had. I’m happy because I’ve never been a “qualifying guy”, but things and going well so far this year. We have the pace to race at the front so let’s wait and see.”

LORENZO SAVADORI #32

“Qualifying didn’t go too well because in FP3 without traffic I could have been eighth, so I was hoping for something more in the E-Pole. Unfortunately we are trying to experimenting a bit, using brakes in a different way like the guys at the front in this category, but unfortunately I made a bit of confusion and lost some time. Race wise we’re in a good place, but obviously it’ll be tough as we’re starting from the back.”
