Bastianini And Di Giannantonio Hard At Work In Friday Practice At Jerez

The Spanish Grand Prix, fourth round of the 2016 Moto3 World Championship and the first on European soil, kicked off today with the first two practice sessions at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit.

The two Gresini Racing Team Moto3 riders, Enea Bastianini and Fabio Di Giannantonio, started to work on their Honda NSF250RW machines’ set-up, closing the combined classification of the times respectively in 10th and 26th position. Ahead of tomorrow’s Qualifying, Bastianini will focus mainly to improve the behaviour of his bike with the soft tyres, while Di Giannantonio will work on braking, something that slowed him today.

ENEA BASTIANINI (10th – 1’48”009)
“At the beginning of the afternoon session we put new tyres and our times improved right away, even if actually I was still not feeling very comfortable on the bike. In the final stages of the session, before using the soft tyre at the rear, we made some set-up changes which unfortunately were not positive. Tomorrow we will look for a better compromise to take advantage of the softer tyre, analyzing advantages and disadvantages of the moves made so far. It will be important to be strong on soft tyres because on this track it’s particularly important to start from a good position on the grid”.

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO (26th – 1’48”853)
“Today was so and so… Here we had already done several tests during the winter, however this morning we started things quietly, because the track was still a bit slippery and the advice of my technicians was to stay quiet. In the afternoon session we also put the soft tyres, but we struggled a bit, especially under braking. At the moment we lose a lot of time there, so tomorrow we will continue to work mainly to improve this aspect. If we succeed, we can certainly move forward and try to qualify in the top 20, which is our target”.

FAUSTO GRESINI
“We are working to find a solution that could allow Enea to be faster: we still lack something, but we hope to find a solution soon, in order to improve tomorrow. Di Giannantonio started the weekend quietly, and we hope to improve also with him tomorrow”.
