Bastianini Back On Track At Misano Test. Many Laps With A Good Pace For Di Giannantonio

Just a few days before the Italian Grand Prix, scheduled for this weekend at Mugello, Gresini Racing Team Moto3 riders Enea Bastianini and Fabio Di Giannantonio were on track today at Misano for one day of testing.

After being forced to miss the French Grand Prix at Le Mans following the fracture of the right wrist sustained last 27th of April during training, Enea Bastianini was back on track for the first time aboard his Honda NSF250RW machine: the 18-year-old rider from Rimini however preferred not to stress too much his arm, completing only twenty laps just to regain confidence with the bike and to work on the riding position.

His team mate Di Giannantonio has instead completed no less than 80 laps, with several long runs with a good pace. The 17-year-old rookie from Rome worked a lot on his bike set-up together with his technicians ahead of the Italian Grand Prix, achieving good results.

ENEA BASTIANINI
“It was nice to get back on my bike, even if honestly I struggled a bit to ride: especially under braking on right hand corners, when I start to lean the bike, my arm starts to hurt, therefore I was not able to be as fast as I would liked. I made just a few laps to find the optimum riding position ahead of Mugello and I stopped, because in these conditions it’s also difficult to understand the behavior of the bike and work on the set-up. I definitely could have done more laps and improve myself, but it would have been useless, better not to risk and get in shape for Mugello”.

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO
“I’m happy because we did a lot of laps and on this track, that I know very well, I had a very good feeling with the bike since the beginning of the day. We tried so many set-up solutions ahead of Mugello and every time we have always been quite fast and this is positive. At Le Mans my performance dropped during the race, so we also worked a lot on race pace, making runs of over 10 laps to better understand the behavior of the bike on the distance. Now I feel that I have more feeling with the bike, so we head to Mugello in high spirits!”.
