BULEGA IN THE POINTS WITH PONS NOT TOO FAR

The second outing of the season, the first of two in Jerez de la Frontera for the Moto2 class did not go as planned for Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 who still manages to place itself in the points with Nicolò Bulega. The Italian rider put together a good comeback after struggling yesterday in qualifying (he was 20th), but he did a good job to fight and grab the first two points of his Gresini journey.

A more of a difficult race for Edgar Pons, who started ahead of his teammate but suffered more than expected due to high track temperatures. The FP3 settings that allowed the Spaniard to qualify to Q2 directly did not work, with the #57 that suffered with front-end issues.

The team will roll up their sleeves and resume their work from tomorrow already with the second event at Jerez in their mind already.

14th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11

“The race was not among the best but to be scoring a couple of points at the end of a very complicated race weekends was not so bad. It’s obvious that this is not our goal: we aim a lot higher than this but we need to be happy with what we got. The good news is that we’re not leaving here just yet, so we’ll have another opportunity in just few days: there’s a lot of work to do but we know what direction to take.”

16th – EDGAR PONS #57

“It’s been a very hard race and I must say the bike with this heat does not as good as we’d like. It’s not a matter of rear-end grip, the problem is at the front as it tucks as soon as you try to push a bit more. It only happens with high temperatures, so we know what to do in order to improve. We’ll need a different set-up for the next race: today we hoped the FP3 settings was good enough for the race but the asphalt was almost 15°C hotter compared to yesterday morning. We’ll try again next week.”
