BULEGA A TENTH OF A SECOND AWAY FROM FRONT ROW IN AUSTRIA

It could have been a great Saturday for Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2, who was only less than a tenth away (0.093secs) from a possible front-row qualifying in the Grand Prix of Styria with Nicolò Bulega – despite the small gap  to the top – only in tenth place.

Despite the bittersweet result there is hope for tomorrow’s race, with the Italian that surely has the pace to get a long-awaited strong race result, which would be the icing on the cake in a weekend that has seen the Italian as one of the protagonists of the middleweight class.

A mechanical problem, on the other hand, halted Edgar Pons’s progression after the Spaniard had clinched the direct seed to Q2 in the morning. Pons will line up in the middle of row seven (20th) in a race that on paper looks more challenging than he had hoped.

10th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11 (1’29.260)

“I’m only half happy: tenth is not a bad result, even though with one tenth less we would have been on the front row. I did my time without slipstream and I think I’m in a good position for the race and surely things are a lot better compared to last week.”

20th – EDGAR PONS #57 (1’29.458)

“We had a mechanical issue this morning in FP3 the moment we put the time-attack tyres so we lost the chance to qualify to Q2. The time I set in Q1 would have allowed me to be 13th-14th, but we’ll have to start from the seventh row. Unfortunately we’re not doing things the perfect way and these mechanical problems surely don’t help in such a difficult category. Three races in a row are kind of paying their toll, I feel I need to take a break and hopefully with a good result under our belt.”
