BULEGA AND PONS WIH BIG MARGIN TO IMPROVE AHEAD OF CZECH SATURDAY

First day of work for Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 who at the end of today’s two free practice sessions sees their riders in 14th and 24th positions. The quickest of the two was Nicolò Bulega with a time of 2’03.233secs, with the Italian who could have been a lot quicker overall had his time not been cancelled due to a yellow flag situation (crash by Nagashima). With that 2’02.819secs he would have been in a solid top-five position.

Edgar Pons was a little further back in the timesheets as the Spaniard set his quickest lap in 2’03.864, even though the big jump in terms of performance between one session as the other – he was 1.5secs quicker in the afternoon. The Spaniard, who is back at Brno after a few years, had a bit of a hard time to find the right lines on a track that is very different from Jerez, but the goal will be to improve ahead of Sunday.

14th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11 (2.03’233)

“This morning we had a bit more of a hard time but then with some setup changes in the afternoon I must say I felt a lot more comfortable on the bike. Unfortunately I got my quickest lap cancelled due to yellow flags on track, so in one way Nagashima’s crashed ‘ruined’ my FP2. We know we’re quick and tomorrow we’ll try again.”

24th – EDGAR PONS #57 (2.03.764)

“Here we struggled a lot more compared to Jerez, but it was to be expected. I lost some of the references, but we did a good job from this morning already and then in the afternoon in terms of time and feeling. Tomorrow we’ll work more on the race pace because it’s more about doing well on Sunday after all.”
