BULEGA AMONG THE PROTAGONISTS ON DAY ONE AT MISANO

The air of home is doing well to Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 who is back near the front of the field courtesy of a super-competitive Nicolò Bulega. The Italian rider managed to impress especially in the second free practice session – usually the more challenging one in terms of lap-time improvements – as he went from 11th to fourth. He was eight tenths of a second quicker between FP1 and FP2 and with the direct seed to Q2 basically sealed, he will use tomorrow morning’s third session to do some fine-tuning ahead of the first race at Misano.

Edgar Pons had a bit more of a challenging day, although his improvement was clear and undeniable. The Spanish rider completed 33 laps and was able to lap one second quicker in FP2 compared to the morning session. He will now work with the team in order to make some adjustments and try to go for the Q2 first and then aim at a good qualifying result.

4th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11

“I’m happy, especially with what I was able to show in the afternoon. The feeling with the bike is improving in each outing and I know I can do well on this track. Q2 should be ours, but we still have to do some fine-tuning in order to be competitive in terms of race pace as well. I must say that it was a great feeling to see people on the grandstands today.”

25th – EDGAR PONS #57

“It was a little bit of a challenging day, even though we made a big step forward between FP1 and FP2. It’s been a long time since I last rode here so the start wasn’t the best, but we worked hard and this is the same approach we’ll have tomorrow. I would like to thank the team as they are giving me great support.”
