GOOD START TO #JAPANESEGP FOR JORGE NAVARRO

Jorge Navarro was twelfth in the combined times of today’s two Moto2 World Championship free practice sessions at Motegi – the track currently hosting the fourth-last Grand Prix of the season. The 21-year-old Spaniard managed to complete a total of 30 laps over the course of the day despite crashing unhurt at turn 14 on what looked like his quickest time of the day, which would have probably guaranteed him a top-10 finish.

The rider of Team Federail Oil Gresini Moto2 therefore ended the day 1.7secs away from the top of the timesheets with a personal best lap-time of 2’07.021, and knowing he could be much further up in the ranks.

Saturday’s Moto2 action will begin at 10:55 local time (GMT +9) with FP3, which will be followed by the #JapaneseGP qualifying session scheduled at 15:05.

12th – JORGE NAVARRO #9

“It’s been a rainy first day, which is fine with me as it looks the weather is going to stay this way for the rest of the weekend. I had a good feeling straight from the get go and I was competitive in FP1, but after making some adjustments in the afternoon we decided to go back to the previous settings. Too bad for the crash: I tried a different line at the last chicane which I think could work better, but I think the speed needs to be different. Generally speaking, it has been a productive day and we know where we can and must improve.”
