CHALLENGING FRIDAY FOR ALCOBA AND SALAČ
Team Moto2 QJMOTOR GRESINI had an opening, complicated day of action at Montmeló, with both riders currently outside the group of riders to be seeded directly to Q2. Jeremy Alcoba had a positive first session at his home track: the rider #52 immediately found a good feeling aboard his Kalex machine, the same he had also in the afternoon with used tyres. He struggled with new tyres though as he failed to improve his best lap-time set in the morning (1’45.574), which was the sixteenth quickest of today’s combined FP classification.
Filip Salač had an unfortunate Practice1 session as he finished 22nd due to a tyre that was not performing as expected – which led to some extra challenge. He tried again in the second session, and he eventually improved as he logged a 1’45.595secs time, which was still not quick enough to grant him the direct access to Q2. The rider #12 is currently seventeenth right behind his teammate.
16th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’45.574)
“We finished the morning’s practice with a good feeling, which I was able to keep in the afternoon with used tyres. Then we put on the new set, and I immediately felt a huge difference and that prevented me from getting up to speed. We’ll keep working ahead of tomorrow and we’ll do our best to get directly into Q2.”
17th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’45.595)
“It was a difficult day for us. The early feeling was good, then we changed rear tyre, which wasn’t performing as expected and therefore we couldn’t do the time attack. I managed to improve in Free Practice 2, then we put a soft tyre on that was good, but the set-up wasn’t ready as we couldn’t get any data from the first session. We’ll try again tomorrow!”
