SALAČ SUPERB SECOND PLACE IN BURIRAM

RACE – #ThaiGP The Thai Moto2 race had a hectic start, with the race initially declared wet. A downpour then came as the riders had lined up on the grid already: five more minutes are given to teams in order to change tyres and start the encounter with a wet-track set-up. Filip Salač put together an incredible comeback and made it all the way into the lead; with eight laps left, after he made a mistake that cost him one position, the race is declared finished as the red flags are deployed. As 2/3 of the race had not been completed, a new, five-lap sprint race was announced, but during the sighting lap a new red flag situation appeared – this time due to the prohibitive conditions of the track. The final classification of the race was therefore declared, and for both Filip Salač and the whole Gresini Racing Moto2 Team it was time to celebrate their first podium of the year – with Nadia Padovani visibly ecstatic for the achievement.

It was a much more difficult race for Alessandro Zaccone, who from 25th place on the grid had very poor visibility due to the rain and the enormous amount of water lifted by the riders ahead of him. The rider #61 managed anyway to finish the race as he crossed the line 21st.

2nd 🥈– FILIP SALAČ #12

“This is the best result we could have hoped for this Thai GP. I would like to thank the team for this result, because they prepared the perfect bike for this race and especially for these tough conditions – and all at the last minute. I’m upset with myself for the mistake I made at the last turn which cost me the win, it would have been a dream to win here. I’m anyway very happy with the work done until today. I would like to thank my family my sponsors and all the team. This podium is for Jason.”

21st – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61

“I’m very happy with Filip, he deserves it and he was really good. I unfortunately was starting the race from too far back and the opening lap was a nightmare, I couldn’t see anything and had to close the throttle on the two straights – it was too dangerous. I was hoping for a restart because I was starting to get the feeling back also on the wet, but unfortunately it didn’t go this way. Too bad, because we could have recovered some more positions. I’m very happy with Filip and the team, though.”
