DIGGIA AND BULEGA CHARGED UP AHEAD OF SPIELBERG BACK-TO-BACK ROUNDS

Forty days, this is the amount of time that has passed since the last time the standard bearers of Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 have ridden their Kalex machines #11 and #21. It was a long summer break, in which Fabio Di Giannantonio and Nicolò Bulega were both able to train and relax.

In a few hours, they well gather together with their crews at Spielberg once again. And since the ongoing global pandemic is still affecting the MotoGP calendar, the Austrian venue will host two back-to-back rounds – instead of the original single event – in the weekends of the 8th and 15th of August.

This track has never been too kind to the current Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 line-up: Bulega has a ninth place as best result (2016 Moto3), while Di Giannantonio has so far been unable to finish higher than sixth (2017 Moto3).

Moto2 proceedings will resume in the most traditional fashion: free practice 1 will bet underway at 10:55 local time (GMT +2) on Friday 6th, while the race will begin at 11:20 on Sunday.

FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21

(5th in the championship standings – 73 points)

“Finally, we’re going back to work. Holidays, beach, friends were all fantastic, but the desire to return to action is huge. I must say that Spielberg has always been quite a unique track for me… I never scored good results there, but we must do well because both me and the team are charged up. Batteries are 100% full and we’ll try to put up a surprise.”

NICOLÒ BULEGA #11

(23rd in the championship standings – 10 points)

“After such a challenging first part of the season – both physically and mentally – this break turned out to be very useful. I never stopped training, but to spend also a bit of time with my friends and girlfriend has helped me a lot. I like the Austrian track a lot, but we need to find the right balance with the bike: we need to be strong under braking without sacrificing mid-corner rideability. We have two races there and we’ll try to make the most of them.”
