DIGGIA E BULEGA CURRENTLY OUT OF Q2 AFTER OPENING DAY IN TEXAS

#AmericasGP Free Practice. The Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 Team did not enjoy a good start to the Americas Grand Prix, as both riders are currently far – position wise – from the top, as well as outside the group of riders who get a direct seed to Q2 (taking place tomorrow at 15:35 GMT -5).

Fabio Di Giannantonio is currently 15th, 1.3 seconds off today’s best lap but only 9 milliseconds away from 14th place. The latter is a very small gap, but could still force the rider #21 to go through Q1 tomorrow if – as forecast – the FP3 session will be held in wet conditions.

Things were not better for Nicolò Bulega, who is down in 23rd place with a gap of around two seconds from the provisional pole position. The rider #11 has ridden on this track for the first time on a Kalex machine today, which leaves plenty of margin for improvement in the upcoming sessions.

15th –  FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO (2’11.264)

“Obviously I can’t be happy with this free practice day. We are experiencing some issues in recent races which we haven’t been able to solve yet, and there’s only one thing we can do: work and get better. I like the track, but today we struggled in being competitive and tomorrow’s FP3 will be crucial in order to make it into Q2 from the main door.”

23rd – NICOLÒ BULEGA (2’11.836)

“We struggled today, even though we stayed out on track quite a lot with the same set of tyres, so we can have one more to use tomorrow. We knew it would have been challenging, also because it’s our first time racing here in Moto2. We have clear ideas for tomorrow and let’s hope we can make a good step forward.”
