THIRD ROW START FOR DIGGIA AT MISANO, BULEGA RIGHT BEHIND

#SanMarinoGP qualifying. The second day of action changed the balance of ‘power’ in Moto2 – as FP3 were held in dry conditions, whilst qualifying only saw a few drops of rain. Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 did an excellent job in adapting quickly to track condition as both riders made it into Q2 from the main door.

Fabio Di Giannantonio and Nicolò Bulega eventually finished 9th and 11th, respectively, and were separated by only 0.061s. Diggia will line up on the third row, with Bulega in the middle of row four. This is a positive result for both riders, who now hope to do even better in the race (the start is scheduled at 12:20 local time). In order to do so, some more work is needed today in the team garage as well as tomorrow morning during the warm up – as the #21 will be looking for more rear-end grip and the #11 for a better mid-corner speed.

9th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 (1’37.171)

“I was expecting to make a big step forward in the second run of qualifying, but unfortunately with less grip my feeling with the bike was not the same. I had a couple of moments in the third split which cost me a few tenths of a second and in the fourth sector things did not go any better. Too bad, because we could have been a lot closer to the front of the grid, but we can be in the game if we will keep up the good work tomorrow.”

11th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11 (1’37.232)

“We improved compared to this morning and we did a decent job in qualifying. We performed better than in Aragón and we can aim at a good result – especially in front of our home crowd. We still lack something on corner entry and mid-turn, but aside from that we’re ready.”
