DIGGIA ‘BOOKS’ Q2, BULEGA QUICK IN THE WET

#DutchGP Free Practice. Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 was hard at work today at TT Circuit Assen in what was the most traditional early summer Friday – weather wise – in the Netherlands. After a first session with dry track in the morning, the afternoon saw both wet and mixed conditions.

Nicolò Bulega well impressed in the wet as he was among the quickest in the afternoon (1’48.111) while improving lap by lap (his fastest time came on lap 20). In the combined times, he sits one position away from Q2 with the 15th quickest time. Should weather be favourable tomorrow morning, the Italian rider will have a realistic shot at claiming a direct seed in the final qualifying session as he is only 0.031secs away from P14.

Fabio Di Giannantonio had a more challenging day, despite being tenth at the end of FP2. The rider #21, who is currently fifth in the championship standings, has worked hard to find the best feeling with his Kalex machine; he will try tomorrow to bridge the one-second gap from the top during FP3 (scheduled at 10:55 GMT +2).

10th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO (1’37.710)

“We’re not super happy with our position, but the reality is different. This morning we had some small issues with the bike, but we’re aware of what they are and we’re heading in the right direction already. The afternoon session was my first one in the wet: I took a little bit of time to find some confidence, but in the end we were quick. Tomorrow we’ll have to improve in both conditions, but we’re ready.”

15th – NICOLÒ BULEGA (1’37.836)

“I’m very happy with my performance this afternoon: we’ve always bene quick in the wet and I can already say that in case of a wet race, we’ll be competitive. It wasn’t too bad in the dry, we’re still missing something but we’re improving and fitness-wise I feel good.”
