DIGGIA SECURES TOP3 WITH MASTERFUL Q2 PERFORMANCE AT PORTIMAO

#AlgarveGP qualifying. Despite three free practice sessions with no real highs, qualifying was a whole different story: first place in Q1 and third position at the end of qualifying around the rollercoaster that is the Algarve International Circuit.

This is a short sum-up of what Fabio Di Giannantonio and Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 were able to do today after finding a good set-up right before qualifying, effectively turning the momentum around for the Portuguese weekend.

Things were not as positive for Nicolò Bulega, who was down in 13th place in Q1, which means he will start the penultimate race of the season – getting underway at 14:30 local time (GMT) – from the 27th spot on the grid.

3rd FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21 (1’42.506)

“It has been an incredible qualifying and honestly speaking I wasn’t expecting it. We were coming from a sub-par performance in free practice and my feeling with the bike was basically absent. As we did in Austin, we went back to an ‘old’ set-up, and we immediately made a huge step forward. I wasn’t expecting it, but now we have fresh hopes to do well tomorrow.”

27th – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11 (1’43.895)

“Unfortunately we’re not in the right place. We struggled finding the right set-up, but we didn’t find what we were looking for. I had very little feeling with the front-end and this didn’t help. Tomorrow’s race will be a really tough one.”
