DIGGIA DOMINATES AND TAKES MAIDEN MOTO2 WIN IN #SPANISHGP

#SpanishGP race. Fabio Di Giannantonio brings back Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 on top of the world with his maiden Moto2 World Championship win, which is also the first for the team in almost five seasons (the previous one was in Aragon 2016). The Italian rider did a spectacular race and dominated from the get-go after a blistering start and an early overtake on Gardner. He then crossed the line with more than two seconds of margin over Bezzecchi.

This was an incredible performance for the whole team, with Di Giannantonio who remains fifth in the standings, but he is now only 17 points away from current leader Gardner – in a season that has still a lot more in store.

Another Sunday to forget for Nicolò Bulega, who was out of the race after a few laps due to a crash at turn six, from which he escaped uninjured.

WINNER – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #21

“It was incredible all around. My start was incredibly strong and I was in the lead at turn one already: I then put together a frantic pace for almost the entirety of the race. I would say it was a 10 out of 10 Diggia, because I maybe did a tiny little mistake, but aside from that I was perfect. This win takes us into a different dimension even if we knew we could be extremely competitive – but now we want to do the same every time. Fausto would have had so much un today and only we know it fully, so this win goes to him.”

DNF – NICOLÒ BULEGA #11

“Unfortunately I lost the front after few laps at turn six and apparently for no reason. We will need to analyse the data to understand what happened, but it’s a shame. It would have been a challenging race anyway given the long lap we had to do, but we were really aiming at enjoying a positive Sunday. Now we need to concentrate on Le Mans.”
