SALAČ SECOND QUICKEST IN FRIDAY’S ARGENTINE FREE PRACTICE
Free Practice – #ArgentinaGP The opening day of free practice has drawn to a close at Termas de Rio Honda, with Team Moto2 QJMOTOR GRESINI RACING’s Filip Salač the second-quickest on track in the combined times of today’s two free practice sessions. The Czech rider #12 managed to adapt his riding style quickly to the Argentine track, which is known for its lack of grip and therefore needs smooth riding, and logged a 1’43.238secs that currently projects him solidly towards Q2.
Jeremy Alcoba had a more difficult time as he finished in seventeenth place. The rider #52 had a first good feeling with the Termas track, albeit he still needs a further step ahead of qualifying: he is currently outside direct admission to Q2 for only 144 thousandths of a second, and tomorrow morning he will have another chance to aim at getting into Q2 from the main door, which is exclusive to the top 14 of Free Practice.
2nd – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’43.238)
“It was a positive day. I didn’t expect to be as fast already from Friday, as we struggled a lot here last year. Track conditions weren’t easy: we come from Portimao where the grip level is high so I had to adapt here and tweak my riding style quite a bit as you can’t be aggressive on this track. I’m having fun and I like the track, but it’s still only Friday: we need to stay focused and keep working for qualifying and the race. The goal for tomorrow is to qualify in the top nine.”
17th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (1’44.169)
“I struggled a lot last year at this track. This year the feeling has improved straight away, we made a good step forward. We’re still missing something and have a lot of worked to do; we’re far from where I expect and like to be. We’re working on it and we’ll keep giving our best tomorrow. L’anno scorso avevo faticato molto in questa pista. Quest’anno le sensazioni sono state migliori sin da subito, abbiamo fatto un bello step in avanti. Ci manca però ancora qualcosa, dobbiamo ancora lavorare molto, siamo lontani da ciò che mi aspetto e da dove vorrei essere. Ci stiamo lavorando, domani faremo del nostro meglio!”
