BOTH GRESINI MOTO2 RIDERS IN Q2 AT ARAGON: SALAC 12TH, ZACCONE 18TH
Qualifying – #AragonGP The second day of action started off on the right foot for Team Gresini Racing Moto2 as both Salač and Zaccone were able to make it into Q2: while the former managed to do it directly, Zaccone successfully exploited the perfect feeling found with his Kalex machine – with a third place Q1 being enough for him to gain access to the final session.
Despite the great feeling and pace shown in FP3, in which he was competitive both on the single lap performance and on the longer run, tomorrow Filip Salač will only line up on row four. The rider #12 did not manage to put together the perfect lap, but the potential for a good race is there.
Qualifying two was a disappointment for Alessandro Zaccone, who after finishing Q1 in third place with a 1’52.748, he only managed to secure an 18th place on the grid for tomorrow’s Moto2 race at MotorLand Aragón. The rider #61 got back on track in Q2 with a fresh set of tires that did not gave him the same level of grip and performance as in the previous outing. There is a comeback race ahead of him, but the good feeling of Q1 is surely a good starting point.
12th – FILIP SALAČ #12 (1’52.872)
“It was a good Saturday for us, I’m happy. We were strong in FP3, but then in qualifying I could and should have done better; I wasn’t able to give my 100% and I’m angry with myself about it. Twelfth on the grid tomorrow is not too bad, however, and let’s see if we can have fun tomorrow in the race.”
18th – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (1’54.042)
“I’m very happy with my speed in Q1 and the lap-times I was able to log. I’m really disappointed though with Q2, because I found a tyre that wasn’t working as good and I was even one and a half second slower than Q1 – and with the same exact tyre. I’m disappointed also because with my Q1 time I would have been 11th. In any case the bike has improved a lot; we showed we can be quick and we’ll prove it tomorrow, too.”
