#EUROPEANGP: COMEBACK FOR ALCOBA, PENALTY FOR RODRIGO

It was an up-and-down Sunday for Team Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 with both Jeremy Alcoba and Gabriel Rodrigo in the points at the end of the third-last event of the season at Valencia.

Alcoba, who was starting from 28th place on the grid, did well in getting up to speed quickly despite a poor start and put together an impressive comeback that ultimately saw him eighth at the line. The Spanish rider – who is racing with a neck issue – will have to work on his Saturday performance.

Opposite path for Rodrigo, who lost ground from the front-runners in the early laps despite staying in position for a good result. An overtake on Suzuki – with the latter finishing in the gravel – was considered a bit too much by race direction who inflicted a long-lap penalty to Rodrigo, who was 15th at the chequered flag.

The Kömmerling Gresini Moto3 duo will have another chance for gold in a week’s time at Cheste in the #ValenciaGP

8th – JEREMY ALCOBA #52 (13th in the championship standings – 65 points)

“I must say it wasn’t an easy race. I was very nervous and that caused me neck pain. To be starting from so much back and with the group breaking so easy were not good for my motivation. I tried to do my own race anyway and if we look at the numbers it didn’t go so bad, but I’m still not happy at all with my weekend. There’s a lot to learn and improve, especially on Saturday. We need to improve our starting position, get a better start – which is not my strongest point – and to keep improving.”

15th – GABRIEL RODRIGO #2 (10th in the championship standings – 80 points)

“I was feeling good in the warm up but my start wasn’t the best. In the early laps I found myself in the second group but I was doing a good race. Unfortunately the penalty for the coming together with Suzuki has changed our Sunday. To be honest, I don’t agree much with the decision by race direction because Suzuki went wide and I was on the right line. We could have battle for the lead in the second group together with Jeremy… We will try to find some more rear grip for next Sunday and we’ll be ready.”
