FERRARI FINISHES ON A HIGH: WIN AND THIRD PLACE OVERALL

#SanMarinoGP Race 2. We asked him for a miracle yesterday, but today an exclamation mark came from Matteo Ferrari, who is back on the top step of the podium with the Indonesian E-Racing Gresini MotoE exactly one year after his last win – at the same Misano World Circuit ‘Marco Simoncelli’ where he edged the competition today. It was surely a difficult race and a bit of luck was at his side, as he crossed the line second before being promoted to first due to the penalty received by Aegerter.

It does not matter how, because today’s 25 points were enough for Ferrari to claim the third place in the final standings (as he moved up the injured – and unlucky – Zaccone, Granado and Tulovic) and once again proves to be among the best in this category (winner in 2019, runner up in 2020 and third this year).

Andrea Mantovani further improved his result from yesterday as he crossed the line 9th in today’s season finale. The rider #9 bagged another seven points which gave him the 14th place in the standings.

1st – MATTEO FERRARI #11

“It was a great race, albeit a difficult one at the beginning. Unfortunately I cannot manage to be quick with new tyres, but this time we got a good start and there were no issues at turn one. From halfway through the race we had the pace to stay at the front. It was hard because there was a lot of wind, but we did a great job. It’s been a difficult season, with no podium finishes until today, and this third place overall has a different taste: it means we never gave up and I must thank the team for supporting me all the way.”

9th – ANDREA MANTOVANI #9

“We made another good step forward and it’s a shame for the one-position penalty. I’m happy because we did a good job by always improving in a season that went past us like a blink of an eye. I would like to thank team Gresini and all of my sponsors for the support, it’s been a great ride.”
