FERRARI ON THE PODIUM AT JEREZ

Race1 – #SpanishGP The all-electric 2022 campaign of team FELO Gresini Racing MotoE started off with a podium finish, as Matteo Ferrari scored a third-place finish in race one at Jerez. One year ago at the very same track, the rider #11 had put together one of the best comebacks in the history of the series from 18th place to sixth at the line. This year, from sixth position on the grid, he managed to finish on the rostrum.

Alessio Finello’s debut race in the category – and on the world stage – ended up prematurely due to a crash. After a difficult start, the rider #72 pushed hard to make up for the lost ground, but at the last corner, during lap two, he made a costly mistake and fortunately escaped uninjured from the tumble.

🥉 – MATTEO FERRARI #11

“To be honest, I thought I could have stayed with the front group right from the beginning, but I was curious to find out their weak points: last year I didn’t feel strong while trying to overtake my opponents. I worked a lot on this side of things and I can say we’re finally there. I lost a little ground in the early stages and I wasn’t happy but I stayed focused and tried to bridge the gap despite the lack of feeling with the rear tyre. We need to sort this issue out ahead of tomorrow’s race, but we were still only a few tenths away and I’m very happy with this podium – we were a little lucky this time! We’re ready for tomorrow.”

DNF – ALESSIO FINELLO #72

“My race unfortunately didn’t last too long, but this is another lesson I learned. I was too eager, and the strong emotions of the first race didn’t help. I had a bad start and I wanted to make up some ground as soon as possible, and then I made to a mistake at the last corner at the end of the second lap and crash, luckily without any consequences. Tomorrow is another day, so we need to reset and start again!”
