TENTH MOTOE PODIUM FOR FERRARI ON HOME TURF
Race1 – #ItalianGP Team FELO Gresini Racing MotoE made an excellent debut in the first-ever MotoE race at Mugello, with Matteo Ferrari making his way on the second step of the podium. The rider #11 got a good start from fifth place on the grid; he managed to contend for the win up to the chequered flag and eventually crossed the line in second place much for the excitement of the home crowd. This is his tenth podium in the series.
Alessio Finello also well impressed as he successfully defended his 14th place up to the finish line and showed a quicker pace than qualifying. The rider #72 bagged two more points and he is ready to repeat – or even improve – his performance in race two.
The second and final #ItalianGP MotoE race will get underway at 15:30 tomorrow (GMT +2).
🥈 – MATTEO FERRARI #11
“I’m really happy; we worked a lot on the bike yesterday and I did the same on myself. We did a good job and the improvements were visible in qualifying already. Once on the grid, I told myself it was time to give it all: I battled until the end and managed to score a second-place finish. Aegerter is really strong on the brakes: we have improved as well, but we’re still missing something in that area. We were really fast on the straight, however; we worked hard on it and I’m happy that we could bear fruit of our efforts. We will try to give a little bit more tomorrow in order to win. To be on the podium on our home track is always a good feeling. It’s my tenth rostrum finish in MotoE, so the icing on the cake would be to win tomorrow – since 11 is also my number.”
14th – ALESSIO FINELLO #72
“Finally a good race, I’m happy. We made a big step forward as we improved pace-wise compared to yesterday. It was great to be in the group for the whole encounter as I battled with Okubo and Fores. This gives me great motivation ahead of tomorrow’s race, where we’ll aim at something even better.”
