FERRARI STILL UNDEFEATED AT MISANO AND BACK IN CONTENTION

Matteo Ferrari scored a sensational race win and maintain his perfect score at the Misano World Circuit, which helps him close the gap to the top of the standings as the standard bearer of Team Trentino Gresini MotoE is only only 12 points away from Aegerter.

Ferrari’s race craft was perfect: a risk-free start as he maintained himself in fourth place, a little mistake at ‘Quercia’ corner which he was able to recover well and then a charge to the front with the overtakes on Torres, Simeon and Casadei. The pace of this sprint race (7 laps) was incredible, and the current title holder did well in defending his lead from Simeon in the last lap, when the tyre grip started to fade.

Great race also for Alessandro Zaccone, who was seventh at the line with slightly more than four seconds from his teammate after a good comeback (he was 10th on the grid). A better qualifying performance would have surely placed him in the leading group for a spot on the podium. He will get two more chances next weekend at the same track.

1st – MATTEO FERRARI #11

“I’m really happy with the win, although at the start I struggled to stay with Casadei and Simeon. I went wide at Quercia but I was able to recover and stay with the leaders. We did a fantastic job and even if the tyres wore out a bit in the final stages we managed to get a very important win and leave behind the disappointment of Jerez and the grid penalty, which is such a short race could have been crucial.”

7th – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61

“I’m sorry for that issue in qualifying… we would have been with the leaders without it. Unfortunately today I lost a lot of time with Marcon because I was starting too far back, but next week we will perform better. I’m starting to understand the bike and I want to do better, and hopefully battle for the podium.”
