FERRARI CLAIMS FRONT ROW TO BEGIN TITLE SHOWDOWN

It will be an excitement-filled Saturday the one which will see Matteo Ferrari getting his first “match point” for the first-ever MotoE World title. The Italian, who currently holds a 19-point advantage on Garzo ahead of the penultimate race of the season, will count on a promising spot on the grid thanks to the second-best time set today during the E-pole.

Only Eric Granado was able to do better than the Italian rider, with the Briton also still in contention for the ultimate prize (with a 24-point gap), while Garzo will start both races from the middle of the front row (5th). Everything is still up for grabs, but there are great expectation for what will be a crucial encounter on the way to the final showdown for the title.

Lorenzo Savadori will start the two MotoE races from the 11thposition on the grid after a good qualifying in which, despite a mistake at turn one, he was able to recover a good number of position on the cold Valencia track. Race one will get underway tomorrow at 16:15 local time (GMT+1).

2nd– MATTEO FERRARI #11

“It was crucial to find the first row and we managed to do so – and also to qualify better than Garzo. The race will be a whole different story but we’re doing well, we have a good pace and tomorrow we will race without maths involved – trying to stay at the front.”

11th– LORENZO SAVADORI #32

“I’m not too happy with this qualifying: truthfully I think I could have lapped in the low 42s. Unfortunately I made a mistake straight away at turn one, even though I managed to make up some positions compared to free practice. We will try to bounce back in the races, even though we know it won’t be easy.”
