FERRARI E MANTOVANI IN THE POINTS IN SPAIN
#CatalanGP race. Both standard bearers of the Indonesian E-Racing Gresini MotoE team have finished in the points today at Montmeló, with Matteo Ferrari 7th and Andrea Mantovani 14th in what was a sunny and hot race in Catalunya.
Ferrari had a great start to the race and managed to move up several places while getting in the mix for a top five finish. In the last three laps, however, his feeling faded away and that meant he could not push as hard. The #11 crossed the finish line in sixth place but was then demoted one position by the race direction, but in any case this surely is an encouraging result for the Rimini-born rider ahead of the next race in Assen.
A brace of points also for Andrea Mantovani, who did manage to pick up his Energica Ego Corsa after crashing out at turn one and was fourteenth at the line.
7th – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (8º in the world cup standings – 27 points)
“È stata una buona gara sotto certi punti di vista. Avevo dei punti di forza dove ero capace di recuperare, cosa che purtroppo non succedeva in altri settori dove ho sofferto abbastanza sul posteriore, specie nelle curve a sinistra. Eravamo nel gruppo di testa e questo è importante”.
14th – ANDREA MANTOVANI #9 (16th in the world cup standings – 10 points)
“I lost the front-end at turn one while I was putting together a comeback. I was riding well and I think we could have surely stayed with the second group, but crashing in such a short race has a huge impact. I was able to rejoin the race and make it to the finish line, which is good because I need as much track-time as I can.”
