FERRARI ON FRONT ROW AT ASSEN

It was an excellent start to the weekend for Team MotoE FELO Gresini Racing at the TT Circuit Assen, where Matteo Ferrari was able to immediately rise up to the challenge and top the timesheets in the combined times of today’s two FP sessions. He was therefore seeded directly to Q2 and set a 1’340.797secs lap-time which gave him third place in qualifying. Due to a rider ahead of him being disqualified from Q2, the rider #11 will line up on the second most-prominent grid slot for tomorrow’s two races. The goal? To win and take the lead in the standings at the end of the first part of the season.

Alessio Finello felt good on the bike in both free practice sessions. He then struggled in qualifying, however, as he did not manage to be as quick as in FP2 and therefore finished 16th. He will start the two encounters from row six, ready to battle for points.

2nd – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1’40.797)

“I’m quite happy with this qualifying session; unfortunately I made a mistake during my best lap in sector four, without that we could have battled for pole. We’re still happy with the front row, a very important achievement in this category as we saw at Sachsenring: it is possible to recover if we start from the back, but it’s hard to win. We’re also very close to Torres, who’s our main rival in the championship run. We need to keep working this way: it’ll be key to understand how the wind will blow especially in race two as it’ll likely be similar to the one we experienced in qualifying. We’ll try to win tomorrow.”

16th – ALESSIO FINELLO #72 (1’42.551)

“It was quite a positive Friday: we were back to a competitive level especially in FP2, as we picked up from what we left off at Mugello. I then chose a wrong strategy in qualifying and wasn’t able neither to improve nor to match the time set in FP2. I’m sorry about it because I know I have margin, but the races are tomorrow and we’re ready, we’ll be competitive and we’ll try to recover as many places as possible.”
