FERRARI AIMING FOR POLE IN HOME GP

#SanMarinoGP Free Practice. The “mixed-condition” first day of MotoE free practice at Misano saw the Indonesian E-Racing Gresini MotoE team hard at work early in the morning in the dry and with mild temperatures, while in the afternoon the iconic track was soaked wet due to several rain showers. The results did not match expectations, with Matteo Ferrari and Andrea Mantovani seventh and 14th, respectively.

There is plenty of margin to improve, however, especially if we consider that the #11 rider did not focus at all on time-attack in the dry: starting from 11:45 local time tomorrow morning (GMT +2), Ferrari will be among the candidates for pole position. Mantovani’s outlook is not as positive, though, as the series rookie will not have an FP3 session to keep working on the set-up of his bike.

7th – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1’44.549)

“I’m happy, especially with our morning performance in the dry; I have a good feeling with the bike and we’re not closer to the front only because I chose not to try the time attack as I thought I could have done it in the afternoon. We weren’t as competitive in the wet during FP2, some on-track traffic got in the way, but generally speaking the feeling is good in every condition and we need to capitalise in both E-Pole and the race tomorrow.”

14th – ANDREA MANTOVANI #9 (1’46.661)

“It’s been quite a challenging first day because I’m still struggling trying to find the right feeling with the bike. Unfortunately we couldn’t continue the work in the afternoon due to rain. It’s a difficult weekend because tomorrow morning it will be time for qualifying already, but we’ll try some set-up changes and do our best as always.”
