FERRARI THIRD IN RACE ONE AT MISANO
Race1 – #SanMarinoGP Matteo Ferrari is back on the podium after finishing third in today’s opening race of the season finale at his home track in Misano. The Rimini-born rider started the encounter from fifth place on the grid and battled hard across the eight laps with the front group – eventually securing 16 important points which help him retain third place in the standings – albeit now with only a 1.5-point margin on the rider in fourth position.
Despite the pain in his recently-operated right foot, Alessio Finello did an excellent job in completing the race – and was also happy to be on track and to have set his personal quickest time of the race. He will try to improve his pace tomorrow with the hope to secure points in the final encounter of the season.
The electric bikes will take to the track for race two at 15:30 local time (GMT +2).
🥉 – MATTEO FERRARI #11
“It was a difficult race. I didn’t have a good feeling with the rear tyre on lap one and I did a small mistake after the ‘Quercia’ and lost some ground. I pushed as hard as I could to close the gap and managed to pass Torres, while Mattia and Dominique were really hard to overtake today. I had been missing the feeling of being on the podium, it’s a great result for both myself and the team. Now let’s think about tomorrow, because I want to win here at Misano!”
16th – ALESSIO FINELLO #72
“It was tough today! Surely I’m not happy with today’s race and my classification, but I must be truthful to myself: I wasn’t even sure I could even take to the track this weekend, so the fact that I was able to and then finish the race – with even my personal best lap-time – help me accept the result. These two weeks of recovery didn’t help my fitness condition but we’re looking at the glass half full: we managed to improve throughout the weekend nevertheless and we will try to continue the same way tomorrow, maybe with one more point to add to the total. I would like to thank the team for this season this way. I would also like to thank the sponsors and everybody who came here to watch me race, which being my home one has surely a special taste.”
