FIRST EPOLE FOR FERRARI AFTER DOMINATING AT MISANO
Reigning world cup champion, wins, podiums… all that was missing was the single-lap supremacy for Matteo Ferrari, which arrived today on his beloved Misano World Circuit. A dominating performance for the standard bearer of Team Trentino Gresini MotoE, which set the quickest time and made his way to parc fermé courtesy of a lap-time very crossed to the current record for MotoE (set in the morning by the Italian rider).
Unfortunately, he will not line up on the most prominent spot of the grid tomorrow as he has a three-position penalty from the previous MotoE race at Jerez. The chance to get back into title contention is big, in light also of the results of his main rivals.
A bittersweet day also for Alessandro Zaccone, who was up to sixth place this morning in the combined free practice times and 10th in qualifying. These are definitely positive signs for the #61 rider, who was still hoping to get a better starting position. Still, he has a chance to impress in the first of three encounters at his home track.
E- POLE POSITION – MATTEO FERRARI #11 (1’43.580)
“I’m very happy. The penalty gave us even bigger motivation and we made a lot of changes to the set-up from Jerez. The team worked extremely well, we got better. Furthermore, the track surface at Misano is excellent and I loved it straight away. We will try to make some ground to the top tomorrow for sure, this is the main goal.”
10th – ALESSANDRO ZACCONE #61 (1’44.687)
“I’m quite disappointed because today we showed that our potential is a lot higher. The sixth place in free practice give me hope for tomorrow and for the next races, but I still need to improve in the single-lap performance.
